As you can see from the map, there is a very clear regional component, as the southern states seem to have the most negative view of the singer, which is interesting considering Swift rose to fame as a country music star, and then transitioned over into pop. One would think that the south, where country music is generally popular, would have a more favorable opinion.

It could be, however, that Swift's recent outspokenness on politics could be at the root of most of this negative sentiment, or at least play a part (Swift has become somewhat of an outspoken Democrat, while the south generally leans Republican/conservative).

Swift's ties to the Kansas City Chiefs and her relationship with Travis Kelce are also not doing her a lot of favors, as they have become the most "hated" team in the NFL.

Here are the top 10 states with the most negative view of Taylor Swift (percentage of negative tweets):

1. Mississippi
2. Louisiana
3. West Virginia
4. South Carolina
5. Arkansas
6. Alabama
7. Georgia
8. North Carolina
9. Florida
10. Texas
